COVID-19 Guidance

At Swim School of Oxfordshire we are committed to providing you with a safe and secure environment to swim at all times, but even more so with COVID-19 to consider.

We are working closely with the University of Oxford Sports and Radley College to ensure that we adhere to and follow the guidelines they have or will be setting in place for all pool users. We also have our own risk assessment and insurance in place, have ensured our teachers are appropriately trained and updated as guidance changes, and we are closely following the advice set out by Swim England. You can be assured that every step we can take to ensure the safety of our customers and staff will be taken.

Whilst we adhere to these guidelines, we also request that our customers help us to ensure the safety of one another through the following recommendations which are currently specific to the Intensive Courses we are running at Radley College:

Teaching practices

  • Due to our small class sizes we are able to maintain class numbers to a maximum of 6 swimmers but have increased the working space of each class and reduced the amount of classes available at one time to ensure we can adhere to social distancing measures as set out by governing bodies.

  • Stage 1 Instructors will now teach from poolside to ensure the 2metre distancing rule is met. In instances where the instructor must enter the pool (for example if a child is struggling to reach the floor), and we deem it safer for the instructor to enter the water, this instructor will be wearing a visor and teaching beside the child.

  • All equipment will be disinfected in between classes to ensure the safety of our swimmers.

  • Hand Sanitiser will be available on poolside for regular use.

Parental Guidance

  • If yourself, the swimmer, or a family member is unwell please do not attend the lesson.

  • Please follow signage within Radley College Sports Centre. There is a one-way system in place around the facility for all customers to follow. There will be a Swim School of Oxfordshire representative available to help with directions and any questions you may have.

  • Please use hand sanitiser when entering and exiting the facility.

  • We ask that only one parent/guardian attends the facility with the swimmer to keep visitors to site at a minimum.

  • We ask that all swimmers arrive ‘Swim Ready’. This means they arrive with their swim kit under their clothes as changing facilities will not be available for arriving customers.

  • Parent/guardians will be asked to wait in their cars for the duration of the lesson and only be present in the pool hall for drop off and pick up times at the start and end of the lesson.

  • At the end of the lesson, parents will be able to meet their child at the entrance to the changing rooms. You will be assigned a cubicle number to use throughout the duration of your course. Your cubicle number will be in your confirmation email.

  • There will be no showers available at site, so we ask our families to vacate the changing rooms within 15minutes after your lesson slot has finished. This allows staff time to disinfect the area before the next class ends.

These guidelines will be continuously updated, so please check back here often. You will receive comprehensive details on our COVID policy prior to your course start date.
