COVID-19 Guidance

At Swim School of Oxfordshire we are committed to providing you with a safe and secure environment to swim at all times, but even more so with COVID-19 to consider.

We are working closely with the University of Oxford Sports and Oxford High to ensure that we adhere to and follow the guidelines they have or will be setting in place for all pool users. We also have our own risk assessment and insurance in place, have ensured our teachers are appropriately trained and updated as guidance changes, and we are closely following the advice set out by Swim England. You can be assured that every step we can take to ensure the safety of our customers and staff will be taken.

Whilst we adhere to these guidelines, we also request that our customers help us to ensure the safety of one another through the following recommendations which are currently specific to the lessons at Oxford High,OX2 6XA  :

Below are a few changes to the lesson process-

Teaching practices-

  • Due to our small class sizes we can maintain class numbers to a maximum of 6 swimmers however have decided that for our lower stages we will reduce this to 4 swimmers to ensure the safety of the class.

  • All instructors will wear visors on poolside to teach and when interacting with parents

  • Stage 1 Instructors will now teach from poolside to ensure the 2metre distancing is met. In instances where the instructor must enter the pool (for example if a child is struggling to reach the floor), and we deem it safer for the instructor to enter the water, this instructor will be wearing a visor and teaching from the beside of the child.

  • All equipment will be disinfected in between classes to ensure the safety of our swimmers.

  • Hand Sanitiser will be available on poolside for regular use.

Parental Guidance-

  • If yourself, the swimmer, or a family member is unwell please do not attend the lesson.

  • Please follow signage within the centre. There are one-way systems in place around the facility for all customers to follow (please see diagrams below). There will be a Swim School of Oxfordshire representative available to help with directions and any questions you may have.

  • Please use hand sanitiser when entering and exiting the facility.

  • Adults must wear a face covering at all times in the building

  • We ask that only one parent/guardian attends the facility with the swimmer to keep visitors to site at a minimum.

  • We ask that all swimmers arrive ‘Swim Ready’. This means they arrive with their swim kit under their clothes as changing facilities will not be available for arriving customers. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes before you lesson start time.

  • Due to an increase in covid cases within the local area, the school no longer wants us to have spectators on poolside. There is a parent waiting area outside (please see map below) or parents can wait in the corridor. Face masks and social distancing must be maintained.

  • At the end of the lesson, parent’s will be able to meet their child on poolside and use the changing facilities on site. There will be one male and one female changing room.

  •

  • There will be no showers available at site, so we ask our families to vacate the changing rooms within 10minutes after your lesson slot has finished. This allows staff time to disinfect the area before the next class ends. The exit is via the changing rooms and out the main foyer.

  •

  • We have new QR codes displayed for NHS track and trace. We do ask customers to do this each visit.
